The experience of being closely checked out by a group of manta rays and their ancillary followers was a highlight for us all. They showed no fear, only apparent curiosity. This despite the fact that many continue to be hunted for their gills so valued in Chinese medicine.
Earlier this month, Indonesian non-profit, Misool Foundation, welcomed guests from the Seven Seas as they passed through on a 2-week liveaboard trip. The group of 14 visited the Foundation’s programme office in East Flores to learn more about its with the manta hunting community of Lamakera.
This was an epic Indonesian liveaboard adventure, cruising from Maumere to Alor in the East and back around Flores to Komodo in the West. A long way away from our home in France, but it was worth every nautical mile of it.
Recently we have been getting quite a few guests who just want to snorkel. Last trip we had one tender totally dedicated to a family of very keen snorkelers.
Starting in 2019, Seven Seas will be scheduling a number of Best of Both Worlds cruises combining East of Flores and Komodo itineraries, picking our favorite sites during the right seasons!
The Seven Seas will be organizing an epic expedition to this area, combining the Komodo and East of Flores itineraries in a 14 night trip from June 19th to July 3rd 2018 (yes, this year!). We will be exploring and experiencing a great variety of reefs along the journey from West to East.
