Join Howard and Michele Hall on an Expedition to Raja AmpatWith seven Emmy awards between them, Howard and Michele Hall are among the world's premiere underwater natural history film makers. They are perhaps best known for their IMAX films, including Under the Sea 3D, with the Coral Triangle underwater sequences filmed aboard The Seven Seas. This IMAX/Warner Brothers co-production (directed by Howard, produced by Michele and narrated by Jim Carrey) has exceeded all expectations at the box office.
We will be doing a month of explorations with Howard and Michele in Raja Ampat in January 2012, open to all interested divers. Check out Howard and Michele's website to find out more about their films, or check out their page on this Raja Ampat adventure for more details, including itinerary maps. Or read an account of the Halls' adventures shooting on board The Seven Seas in Indonesia for Under the Sea 3D by following this link and scrolling down to "Expedition #5: Indonesia Aboard the Seven Seas". Our two Howard Hall-Seven Seas Raja Ampat expeditions will feature different exploratory itineraries, both beginning and ending in Sorong. Michele will be shooting video and stills with her new Canon 7D in a Nauticam housing, while Howard will be gathering stock video footage in 4K with his RED camera.
Don't worry - Howard and Michele won't have their IMAX camera this time, so the boat won't be packed full of gear the way it was on their last trip on The Seven Seas, which turned into the underwater Indonesia component of Under the Sea 3D. But we are confident these expeditions will be just as rich with adventure and discovery. The first 15-day adventure over 8 to 22 January will be a southern itinerary, including visits to less well-known sites in eastern Misool and its adjacent archipelago of islands, journeying to the biodiverse islands off Misool's western tip, before proceeding to P. Kofiao and finishing on P. Batanta. The second 15-day adventure (24 January to 7 February) will set a course for the spectacular northern islands of Raja Ampat starting in the Dampier strait, hitting all the wonderful sites of eastern Waigeo on the way north to P. Kawe, the Wayag islands, and the rarely visited P. Sayang, then south to the Fam Islands, P. Kofiau and P. Batanta.
Note: These are tentative itineraries, which will be revised as necessary according to weather and diving conditions at the time. It is also possible that the two itineraries might be switched around if conditions dictate. We also anticipate spending multiple days in highly productive, popular sites and areas. All we can guarantee is some great diving and an incomparable experience! Choose either leg or do both itineraries. At this moment, we have four cabins (8 pax) available for the first cruise and six cabins (12 pax) on the second. Cost is US$ 7,000 per person for each cruise of 15 days (14 nights) or US$ 14,000 per person for both expeditions. To book, send us an email at: [email protected], or for more information on Seven Seas cruises visit our website at www.thesevenseas.net.
